Imad Tibi has worked in the field of education for the last 35 years. He has worked as a principal for 15 years and as a Math & Science teacher and professional development coordinator for 15 years in public and Islamic schools. Mr Tibi has one B.S. degree and two M.S. degrees in Math Education and Biomedical Engineering fields.

Mrs. Hana Sankari has a B.S. from SVSU in Biochemistry (minor in Psychology and international studies), a B.S. (highest honor, Blue Award, Maize Award) from UM-Flint in Elementary Education with an emphasis on K-8 Math and English. She has recently received a Masters of Public Administration in Education Leadership from UM-Flint. Mrs. Sankari has been involved in the community and school for numerous years. She spent several years as a teacher and later an administrator at Dar Al-Arkam Weekend School. She has also contributed to the FIC Youth Committee and FIC Family Camp. At the school, she has been a member of the School Board and PTO. She also taught fourth grade and has been the MYP Coordinator for 4 years.

Marie-Annick McLaughlin earned a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a PhD from the University of Montreal, both located in Canada. After working at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute for 4 years, she moved to Michigan with her husband. Marie-Annick has extensive experience tutoring children from grade 5 to 10, mostly in science, mathematics and English. She also coached students in time management, studying strategies and memorization techniques. Experienced in finances and human resources management, Marie-Annick joined Genesee Academy during the 2011-12 school year and is enjoying the opportunity to work with everyone at GA.

Mrs. Gina Khirfan is the librarian/media specialist and yearbook advisor for the school. In the past she has worked as a substitute teacher, volunteer librarian, tutor, and parent volunteer at Genesee Academy. She has experience as a retail business owner, office manager, secretarial and data management. In 2009, she received her B.A. in English with specialization in writing from the University of Michigan. In 2014, she received her MLIS degree from Wayne State University with specialization in ALFA (Accessible Libraries for All). Mrs. Khirfan loves helping the students at GA and hopes to encourage them to become lifelong readers. She has been married for over 33 years and has four children, all of whom have attended Genesee Academy and two daughters who have even taught at GA. In her spare time, she enjoys, reading, quilting, gardening, and traveling.
