Aaron Jost is starting his fifth year with the Genesee Academy Family. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, Wellness, and Leisure from Henderson State University in Arkansas. After graduating in 2013, Aaron and his wife, Caitlin, moved to Michigan for new opportunities. Before coming to Genesee Academy, Aaron worked at Williamston Middle School in Special education. He is currently teaching Elementary, Middle, and High School Physical Education, as well as Middle School Technology, and High School Health. Aaron is excited and motivated for this new year at Genesee Academy.

Kat Blackwood is excited to begin her third year at Genesee Academy. She went to Purdue University where she received her bachelor's in art education. She is starting her 13th year in education. When she is not teaching, she enjoys working on her own artwork and spending time with her dogs, cat and family.

Casey Silverthorn originally graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University. In 2010, she returned to school to pursue her true passion of teaching, earning a degree in Secondary Education in Integrated Science also from Eastern Michigan University. Ms. Silverthorn is entering her sixth year of teaching and her first at Genesee Academy. Prior to coming to GA, she taught in the Dearborn and Metro Detroit Area. Ms. Silverthorn is very excited to be moving back to Flint where she grew up to be close to her family and friends and to reconnect with the Muslim community at FIC where she converted to Islam 7-8 years ago.

She is certified as highly qualified per the State of Michigan and her continuing education pursuits include AP Composition and AP Literature certification as well as the continued pursuit of a Master in American HIstory. Her dedication to excellence in education is a personal passion that leads her to the continued study and consideration of issues in education. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, hiking, and reading.
