IB-MYP Evaluation: The IB-MYP evaluation committee ended their virtual visit and process to Genesee Academy last Thursday. Alhamdulillah, we were presented with good feedback from the committee about the dedication of our staff to attend the IB high standards, the support of the parents and board, and the hard work from students. Insha Allah, a final report will be sent to us in about 1-2 months that will indicate our areas of strength and the areas that we need to improve on. We thank everyone for your dua and support.
-Science Fair Competition: GA Science Fair Competition (for 5th and 7th grades) will be rescheduled for the week of March 15. This rescheduling is due to the Flint Regional Science Fair Competition rescheduling that will now be on April 17.
-End of 3rd Quarter: Insha Allah, the end of the 3rd quarter will be Friday March 26.
-Travelling Policy: If you are travelling out of state/country with your kids, your kids have to quarantine for 7 days after they come back in town during which they can attend school online, i.e. they can not attend school in person during these 7 days. Also, the parents should fill out the extended leave form for their kids a week before the travelling and turn it in to the office. Please, contact the office for the extended leave form.
-Spring Break: Insha Allah, the spring break will be from Monday March 29 to Friday April 2. The school will resume on Monday April 5.
-Ramadan Schedule: Insha Allah, the Ramadan schedule will start on Monday April 12, i.e. the school will start late at 9:30 am (Monday-Friday) for students; however, the dismissal time will stay the same, i.e. at 3:40 pm for Monday-Thursday and at 1:52 pm on Friday..
-State Testing (SAT/PSAT10/PSAT8&9/M-Step): Insha Allah, the 2nd week after the spring break, the state testing will start according to the following schedule:
SAT (11th grade)/PSAT10 (10th)/PSAT9&8 (9th & 8th): Tuesday April 13 at Genesee Academy

-Quran Competition: Due to covid situation, the Quran competition will be conducted in a simplified way. The students will be tested/judged by their Quran teachers in their classroom; the students will be graded for their performance, and the winners will be rewarded with gift cards. For now, the high school will be tested on the first week of April after the spring break (i.e. the week of April 5), and the 3rd - 8th grades will be tested after Eid on the week of May 17. There will be no testing for KG-2nd grades; instead, the Quran teacher will conduct a general assessment of the students' performance.
-Mask/Water Bottle: This is a reminder to the parents to send a water bottle with your child since the school water fountains are closed down. Also, make sure to send a mask with your child that fits his/her face.
